Washington: My Home

I have seen quite a few ideas around pinterest of state cut-outs and thought it would be a fun project to try with my new Cricut machine. With the new Cricut you can upload your own images and even edit them for the areas you want to cut. So I hunted online for a Washington State image that would be easy enough to cut since we have quite a few islands as part of our state.

I uploaded the image I decided on to my Cricut Design Space account, once uploaded I selected the size I wanted and arranged on my electronic mat. I wanted to add a little more to it so I chose to add text and use the pen feature as well. After deciding on the color I wanted I loaded the mat and pen into the Cricut and began the cutting process.

Once cutting and text were complete I added a silver glitter heart cut-out to the closest area we call home. I love how the "My Home" text turned out, I think it adds a special touch from other state cut-outs I have seen. This project is for my daughter's room, to make it more visually appealling I framed it with an old white frame I had lying around that I had purchased from Ikea quite some time ago.  I added a scrap of burlap over the matting leaving about an inch of white at the top and bottom of the mat, taped the state cut-out onto the burlap and re-assembled the frame.

Here is the final product, I love how it turned out. See the final product in my daughter's room here.
